It's Party Day!
Well, I think I'm almost ready. My daughter's 4th birthday party is today. I really just need to vacuum and Swiffer, which are kind of last-minute things to do anyway. So for right now I thought I'd sit here and drink my coffee and enjoy my kids entertaining each other while I wake up. It rained last night, and who knows what it will do today, so let me take a moment to congratulate myself for deciding to host the party at home this year instead of at the local park as had become tradition. To tell the truth, my primary motivation on that was all the potty-trained children who would be dragging their parents into the one port-a-john at the park. My home, like most in this country, has ready access to toilet paper, soap, and running water (although there still is only one human waste receptacle-- plumbing makes all the difference). Only as an afterthought did I consider that it might rain in April in the Midwest!!! We have had such beautiful weather for the weekend of her birthday in the past that I had almost been lulled into a trustingly complacent state in regards to party weather. Her birthday is actually Monday, so I had originally planned to have her party on the 25th until I became aware of scheduling conflicts. I will be interested to see if next Saturday brings the beautiful weather I was expecting.
I'm boring myself just typing this. I have got to remember to drink my coffee before blogging. I actually have just had a couple of boring days. I felt like it was definitely time for a fresh post, but I've been so wrapped up in party preparations that I haven't even had time to research something more interesting than my own life to write about. All I have is old news: Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson broke up, Hulk Hogan understands O.J., "Heroes" is getting so lame that I may finally quit watching, and Adam Lambert is a pretty darn spectacular screamer-- which always makes me think of my mom and how much she must be wincing and checking her ears for blood. (Mom never was a fan of wailing music-- be it from someone's mouth or their guitar. She must have hated having me in the house as a teenager. I love me some Aerosmith.)
So all I've got this morning is leftovers. Eat it and like it. I'll cook up something fresh soon enough.
