A Review Of What's Been Entertaining Me Lately:
As I kind of half-watch Alice in Wonderland on the Disney Channel with my girls this morning (while simultaneously unloading the dishwasher), I am wondering what I will be doing with my Monday nights now that Heroes is over. Actually, I'm very relieved that it's done for the season. For some reason I had to watch until the finale... maybe I can just never start again when next season starts up. It's a completely different show than it was the first season. It was intriguing and believable, in that it sucked you into the storyline and history of the characters enough to not turn you off when the superpowers were revealed. It resided in "What If...?" Land. But then it brought its villain back from the dead-- before he had even gotten ahold of the invincibility power! Once he got it, though, I don't think anyone cared about any scenes with him anymore. He won't be beaten. He can't be beaten. It's boring and ridiculous. But I somehow feel disloyal by saying that.
American Idol is winding down, so that will free up two more weeknights to read actual books! I most wonder how the drama of Paula 'admitting' to painkiller dependence in Ladies' Home Journal (http://www.lhj.com/style/covers/paula-abdul/), then denying ever having said it (skip to 4:54; it's long: http://mojo.channel955.com/cc-common/mediaplayer/player.html?redir=yes&mps=default.php&mid=http://a1135.g.akamai.net/f/1135/30256/1h/cchannel.download.akamai.com/30256/4449/richmedia/wkqi-mojo_paula-abdul_20090507.mp3?CCOMRRMID=28506446&CPROG=RICHMEDIA&MARKET=DETROIT-MI&NG_FORMAT=personality&NG_ID=WKQIMIP&OR_NEWSFORMAT=&OWNER=4449&SERVER_NAME=mojo.channel955.com&SITE_ID=4449&STATION_ID=WKQIM-IP&TRACK=Paula_Abdul) will play out. Does that mean she's back on the drugs? Maybe she reinjured herself lipsynching on her singing show...
Hell's Kitchen is also about to air its finale, which will be fun because my husband and I are rooting against one another's favorite. I'm sure there will be much heckling in our family room on Thursday night! That's always fun.
By the way, I assume I am the last person on the planet to see 2008's Best Picture, Slumdog Millionaire, but if I'm not: Go see it! It was fantastic! Well written, well acted, well filmed.
Feel free to recommend any movies/books to occupy my time after my kids go to bed.
