Ups, Downs, And Fun All Around
So, first of all, it's a small world. I happened to be looking through pictures my stepmom's sister had posted on Facebook and noticed one picture from the wedding of what looked to be one of her close girlfriends. Funny thing is, I work with the bride! Had no idea she knew someone in my family (and I know she was planning a small, intimate wedding, so apparently she knows my step-aunt quite well)!
In other news, my stepdaughter decided to test her away-from-primary-residence boundaries. To keep a long story short, I made a rule and she conned her mom into telling her she didn't have to follow it. I assume she used the age-old technique of omitting the fact that it was already a rule that had already been discussed in this house before she asked her mom for her opinion. I'm hoping it won't be a situation that is repeated. My understanding is that her mom feels bad about my stepdaughter now being grounded...
Baby Duck got to have a turn at being goalie this week at soccer. Unfortunately it was also the week that both teams got confused and were using the same goal... leaving my daughter with no action at the other end of the field. Thus, the position of goalie has been deemed "boring".
Ladybug made her favorite doll and her lovey kiss each other today. First time I've noticed such a blatant attempt at pretend interaction between her toys. Very exciting moment for me. The little things are what make being a mom my favorite role in life.
Hubby got to show his girls yesterday that he still remembers how to play the piano pretty well considering he's played for probably a total of fifteen minutes in the near decade we've been together. "The Entertainer" is his go-to song. It makes me smile.
As for me, I'm off to my last welding class any minute now. I'll be the proud owner/creator of a new garden bench by this evening. I hope. It's gonna be wicked awesome-- and yes, you are expected to read that last part in the harsh Bostonian accent of Casey Affleck: wicked awesome!
