I Wonder...

After laying in bed awake for about an hour now, I have decided to get up and do something so I can go back to bed in ten minutes and start over.  So here I am.
Earlier this evening my husband turned on the local events channel on TV, which was covering a city meeting of some sort.  After watching the American Sign Language interpreter for a few minutes and then looking back at the lady speaking, I voiced what I had been thinking.
"I wonder," I said to E, "if when deaf people watch hearing people talk, they get really annoyed by all the inane hand gestures we make.  Is it distracting to them when they are either trying to watch the interpreter or read lips?  Is it like when you're trying to have a conversation with someone and they get stuck for awhile just saying, 'Um...umm...ummm...'?  Or is it more like when Baby Duck pretends to speak French: 'Slossawalla woosh mukkie derf bloop'?"  After seeing the strange look I was getting, I added, "I can't be the only one who thinks of this, can I?"
His answer?  "Yes, Honey!  I think you are the only one.  But that's okay.  I sense a blg entry here."

So tell me, am I the only one who thinks of these things?
