They Should Call It "Self Esteem Chopper"

I went to my local Price Chopper tonight instead of Hy-Vee.  I usually go to Hy-Vee because it is two minutes from my house.  Hen House is probably six minutes from my house, with Price Chopper trailing at about ten minutes away.  However, I had seen an add for E's favorite frozen pizzas for next to nothing.  I was excited enough that I jotted it on my calendar so I wouldn't forget.
I thought it was strange when I got to the store and the pizzas were marked about twice what the advertised price was.  I went to the front of the store to get a copy of the ad to see if I was crazy.  Sure enough, the ad said they were supposed to be much cheaper.  I finished my shopping and went to the checkout, keeping the ad with me so I could ask the cashier about it if necessary.  Sure enough, they rang up more expensive than the ad.  I politely told the lady I was confused because of the ad and held it out to her.
Apparently the banner at the top of the ad said the three day sale was Thursday, Friday and Saturday-- not Wednesday, Thursday and Friday as I had thought.  (I must have mixed the dates up with another sale ad from a different store.)  Now, I am somewhat prone to these type of mistakes and certainly was not going to try to get them to give me the price or anything of that nature.  I completely understand that if I would have reread the ad thoroughly I could have discovered the source of my confusion on my own.  That is not why I am venting.  I am venting because this old lady took the ad from me, opened it up and sharply pointed at the banner without speaking.  She actually waited several seconds for effect before saying, "Starts tomorrow."  Seriously?!?!  Has our society deteriorated so far that someone can't look someone else in the eye and politely say, "I'm sorry, ma'am, but that sale doesn't start until tomorrow.  See?  It says so here at the top."  That's all I wanted!  I didn't want my way and was willing to admit I was wrong.  I just wanted some basic politeness!  Why is that so hard for people anymore?  Grr...
So I have to go back tomorrow for the pizza.
