Well, we had another weird milestone this evening.  Baby Duck's soccer team had their end-of-season party at the park and all the girls were having a great time...
     Then, I heard shrieking from one of Baby Duck's good friends and saw Baby Duck with a horrified look on her face.  She was clutching her fist  to her chest when I suddenly made sense of the words in the wailing: "SHE PUNCHED ME IN THE MOUTH!!!!"    A split second later, Baby Duck was crying just as hard as her injured friend.  Apparently they had been messing around when a pretend hit accidentally made contact. I knew the exact guilt she was feeling; I have famously bad depth perception/spatial reasoning skills that have caused me to do the same thing on many occasions in my life.  There is certainly no maltreatment intended, but try and see if your victim cares a lick about that!
     Purely by accident also, she did the only thing she could possibly have done to make amends: she busted her lip on the tire swing.  Upon seeing the eye-for-an-eye (or mouth-for-a-mouth) injury, her friend was sympathetic and speaking to her again.
